Better Shelter

Better Shelter provides quick to build refugee shelters around the world. Better shelter is flat-packed, requires no tools to assemble, and can be taken apart and rebuilt again elsewhere. Instead of canvas flaps, the shelter is made up of hard panels, which stand up better against harsher climactic conditions and offer more privacy.

The 188 square-foot shelters offer occupants better protection from weather along with more privacy. Made to house one family, the shelters feature temperature control and a solar panel to provide electricity.

This project is funded by the IKEA Foundation who has commited Euro 73 million to the UNHCR to improve the living situation for families and children living in refugee camps.
