Solution Overview & Benefits
The UV WaterBox is a self contained water purification system that can purify up to 5,000 liters of water a day. Water is poured into the top of the WaterBox where it moves past an ultraviolet light which kills microorganisms. The water passes though three filters to remove particulates before being exposed to UV light. This improves the water's flavor and ensures the turbidity is low enough for the UV light to be effective. The process water can be collected from taps at the bottom of the device in suitable containers. The entire unit can be carried by one person and is powered by a solar panel which is the only source of energy needed.
