Ila Trust - Mobile Clinics and Electronic Medical Record System to improve quality of living

The Ila Trust is to provide mobile clinics for the most vulnerable population in society. There are two mobile clinics, one works in and around old Delhi in the areas of Lahori Gate, G.B Road, Jama Masjid, Majnu Ka Tila, Turkman Gate, Ajmeri Gate, Jamna Bazaar and Chandini Chowk; the second mobile clinic goes to Okhla Industrial Area. In addition, Ila Trust is now implementing a new electronic medical record (EMR) system supported by HP (Hewlett-Packard), which allows doctors to track patient's health histories, perform follow-up, better manage inventory, identify the geo-density of symptoms and diseases across the greater New Delhi region, and inform public health officials of outbreaks of diseases at times of crisis.

The first mobile medical clinic began operations in Delhi in 2003, donated by the Member of Parliament (MP) Shri Kapil Sibal. In March 2007, the Ila Trust received the second mobile clinic donated by the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Each unit now operates with four doctors on board per visit, as well as a nurse, Screener and a medicine dispenser. Between the two clinics, the Ila Trust treated more than 100,000 patients in 2009.
