History & Development

MIT E-Vent’s is a machine which helps automate squeezing of emergency resuscitator bag (Ambu bag). It starts with a design from a student project in MIT class 2.75 (Medical Device Design). A group of MIT personnel and alumni come together to develop open guidelines and reference designs so qualified personnel around the world can build the machine to match their needs and available supply chains. One key difference of this project is the integral involvement of clinicians who help translate between clinical and engineering requirements, ensuring that machines are adhered to clinical guidelines.
