The doctor, who is present in a different location (maybe in a city), and the patient at the remote location, are connected to each other over a video conferencing link.

The huge gap between the state of the art of health care, which is available in urban areas and developed countries, and the kind of healthcare services available to the rural population in developing countries, means many people in poorer societies are suffering because of unavailability of simple and standard medical facilities and diagnostics.
