Solution Overview & Benefits

The Prakti Institutional Stove is designed as a hybrid stove, to utilize both wood fuel and greener fuels, such as briquettes made from recycled agricultural or urban waste. This stove reduces fuel consumption by up to 80% and cooking time by up to 70%. The Prakti Institutional stove is ideal for school feeding programs, humanitarian interventions, hospitals, prisons and other institutional feeding needs. The Orka is available in 40, 80 and 200 liter models.

History & Development

Prakti has won the last five bids to supply the World Food Programme with cooking stoves, becoming the largest supplier to UN.

The Prakti Institutional Stove is a third-generation institutional stove. Its design has been optimized based on user feedback from several years of pilot studies with previous models, along with further laboratory testing and engineering analysis. Today, over 500 PRAKTI Orka stoves prepare daily meals for more than 75,000 people in Haiti and India. All Prakti stoves are currently sold in India and can be exported worldwide upon request.
