Field Water Testing Kit

The Field Water Testing Kit developed by TWAD Board is a simple, user-friendly and cost-effective kit that can perform the following 13 chemical tests:

• pH
• alkalinity
• hardness
• chloride
• TDS
• fluoride
• iron
• ammonia
• nitrite
• nitrate
• phosphate
• turbidity
• residual chlorine

Bacteriological examination H2S vials are available. The cost of one field testing kit is Rs 2500. Individual Turbidity and Fluoride tests are also available for Rs 150 each.

100 samples can be tested with one set of reagents. The reagents can be refilled at the state water testing laboratory in Chennai at a cost of Rs 1750 per kit.

The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD Board) is a statutory body formed by the government of Tamil Nadu, India, in 1971. It is responsible for the supply of water and the sewage facilities in the state of Tamil Nadu, with the exception of the Chennai metropolitan area. The Field Testing Manufacturing unit is operating since 2006.

The Field Water Testing Kit has been evaluated and approved with an A grade by the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. In Tamil Nadu, the TWAD Board distributes field test kits to all 12,620 Panchayat Presidents and 2,225 schools. They also provide training on using the kits at the local level.
