Think you have a lot to contribute, but your time is limited? We are actively recruiting volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to grow with TEL. Even if you have only a few hours a month to spare, you can make a big impact with our organization.

We also occasionally have openings for internships. If you are a student interested in an internship we can coordinate with your university to qualify credits.

Program Director

The Technology Exchange Lab, Inc. (TEL) is seeking an entrepreneurial, values-driven manager who can work independently in the context of a very small team to help spearhead our next stage of growth. Experience in nonprofit management and/or international development required. Responsibilities center on strategy implementation, field project direction, and financial development.

You will take the lead in:

  • Development, implementation, and periodic updating of TEL’s strategic plan

  • Business development and program management

  • Team coordination

  • Partnership development and relationship management

  • Representing TEL as a spokesperson at conferences and events, occasionally outside of regular working hours

Your qualifications:

  • A passion for implementing innovative, ecologically sound, technology-based approaches to improving the lives of people around the world.

  • At ease working to further the organization’s mission and strategy by actively engaging a variety of stakeholders, including community leaders, academics, c-suite executives, and leaders in the public sector.

  • Belief in teamwork and effective collaboration for meaningful results.

  • Familiarity with the International Development sector.

  • 2+ years of experience working with a nonprofit organization, social enterprise, start-up, or other experience relevant to TEL's mission.

  • Bachelor’s degree, MA preferred.

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English, additional languages a plus.

  • Ability to travel internationally 2-4 weeks a year.

  • Creativity, self-motivation, and a sense of humor.

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week), possibly leading to full-time, working at present remotely, later in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA. Perks include membership to Cambridge Innovation Center, access to networking events, free daytime gym membership, snacks.

The new COVID-19-dedicated section of TEL's website collates and curates up-to-date information on products, prototypes and design specifications. The data are--as always--free and easy to access, presented in a user-friendly yet information-dense format. Our experienced team is in contact daily with innovators and suppliers, updating our interactive website, also accessible in a limited-bandwidth version. We are looking for volunteers to research new solutions as they emerge and to add them to our database.

The Technology Exchange Lab (TEL) is looking for a volunteer to help us create a short (30-45 second) informational animated video for the homepage of our new website. This is a great opportunity for aspiring or established designers and storytellers to grow their portfolios!

This is a volunteer position. If you are a student interested in an internship, we will work with your university for class credit.
